International Women’s Day, March 8th, 2017

Internationally, the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is BE BOLD FOR CHANGE.  It has been made very clear by comments and actions around the globe that we women have quite a ways to go in bringing equal rights and change to the world.  Regardless of what laws are in place, it takes effort and living by example to change the mindset of the communities in which we live. It is time we step up for what is right – right for all people.  Show respect, compassion, and support through our words and actions.  It is way past the talking, it now time to live what we say and believe.  If we all stand together, men and women, and demand that we are all treating equally, things will change.  What will you do to Be Bold for Change in 2017?  To learn more about other events around the globe check out the International Women’s Day website.

2016 was a Pledge for Parity

In  2016 International Women’s Day theme was Pledge for Parity.  As we take time to celebrate the advancement and achievement of women worldwide we need to understand that in reality equality and advancement has actually slowed down in many places around the world.  March 8th is recognized globally as International Women’s Day and is the perfect opportunity for men and women to come together to show support in making change…NOW!  The time has come to take the next step from talk to purposeful action.

The following is taken from International Women’s Day official website

The World Economic Forum predicted in 2014 that it would take until 2095 to achieve global gender parity. Then one year later in 2015, they estimated that a slowdown in the already glacial pace of progress meant the gender gap wouldn’t close entirely until 2133. We may wonder how much we can do individually to close the gap but research conducted by EY has shown each of us can take certain tangible actions that together make a difference.”
